Study on the formation and growth of white turmeric rhizomes (Curcuma aromatica Salisb.)

White turmeric has underground stems that develop rhizomes. It been used as an Eastern traditional herb for a long time. As with many other monocotyledons, the growth of white is mainly due to presence primary thickening meristem. Currently, study meristem, radial growth, and accumulation secondary material essential oil in rhizomes, including turmeric, still limited. In this study, we observed anatomical structural changes early stages vitro: counted number PTM layers, vascular bundles, drops rhizomes determined physiological biochemical indicators, such respiratory intensity, tuber diameter, fresh weight, dry total sugar content, starch level, according each stage (0, 2, 4 6 weeks) turmeric. The results showed at 0 weeks age (resting buds), consists 1-2 layers cells, there no formation bundles oils tubers. At 2 age, 6-7 appearance droplets parenchyma. cell players decreases 3-4 2-3 but diameter increase rapidly. Along oils, was decrease content intensity rhizome. relationship between starch, also discussed.
